Verification

The CDD War Room confirmed that various media outlets accurately reported the story about the refusal to sign the peace pact.

Further investigation found that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, through its chieftain Emmanuel Odigie, provided further context. According to Odigie, the party’s decision not to sign the peace accord ahead of the September 21 governorship election was due to unmet demands by the Federal Government.

Odigie explained that the condition was the withdrawal of Special Forces out of the state. Noting that the state had a very effective state police command. He alleged that bringing Special Forces to the state was to only harass people.
