Claim: Did the FG withdraw the internal circular on the sales of subsidized rice?

Verdict: ALL WE KNOW

The CDD War Room found that the internal circular titled “WITHDRAWAL OF INTERNAL CIRCULAR ON SALE OF SUBSIDIZED RICE TO PUBLIC SERVANTS” originated from the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs.

We also found that a credible news platform reported the decision to begin the sales of subsidized rice and the second circular announcing the withdrawal of the first one. The news platform titled the report “Hardship: Government Withdraws Sales of N40,000 50kg of Rice.”

Furthermore, the CDD War Room found that some staff of the Federal Government in Abuja have signified interest and paid N40,000 for the 50kg bag of rice, in response to the first internal circular. However, those contacted have not received the rice as of the time of this report.

The CDD War Room can conclude that the memo indicating the withdrawal of the internal circular emanated from the Federal Government. However, some staff of the FG revealed that they have made payment and are expecting the delivery of the subsidized rice.
