FACT CHECK: Did the Police Restrict Vehicular Movement from 12 am to 6 pm?

On November 7th 2025, the CDD War Room received a claim via the Check by Meedan tool. According to the claim, the Police have restricted movement in Anambra from 12 am to 6 pm ahead of the Saturday, November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election in the state.  

Claim: The Police have restricted vehicular movement in Anambra from 12 am to 6 pm

Verification: 

The gubernatorial election in Anambra State is slated for November 8, 2025 and as part of measures to ensure a free, fair and credible election, the Nigeria Police announced the restriction of vehicular movements from 12 am to 6 pm.

The CDD War Room found that the restriction was announced in a statement released on Friday, November 7, 2025, by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesman. According to the Police spokesman, this vehicular restriction takes effect from 12 am to 6 pm and shall affect all roads within Anambra state, including interstate highways.

The CDD War Room can confirm that the Nigeria Police announced the restriction of vehicular movement in Anambra from 12 am to 6 pm. The restriction is slated for November 8, 2025 and shall affect all roads within Anambra state, including interstate highways.
