CDD Fact-check was set –up in 2018 as an independent fact-checking operation, based out of the offices of Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) West Africa – legally registered non-profit organization in Nigeria. CDD’s central office is located in Abuja, where CDD Fact-check operates out of. The registration number of the organization is CAC/IT/NO 69519 by Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). CDD West Africa was founded in 1997 to mobilize global opinion and resources for democratic development and provide an independent space to reflect critically on the challenges posed to the democratization and development processes in West Africa, and also to provide alternatives and best practices to the sustenance of democracy and development in the region.
