FACT CHECK: Did the YPP candidate step down for Soludo?

Reports circulating on social media claim that Paul Chukwuma, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election, had stepped down in support of the incumbent governor and the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Charles Soludo.

The CDD War Room also received the claim via the Check by Meedan tool for verification.

Claim: YPP candidate, Paul Chukwuma has stepped down for Soludo

Verification:

CDD War Room reviewed multiple credible news sources and found no evidence to support the claim that Chukwuma withdrew from the race or declared support for Soludo. On the contrary, available reports show that Chukwuma had accused Soludo of allegedly funding state-backed militias to disrupt the elections — a stance that directly contradicts the claim of endorsement or withdrawal.

Verdict: FALSE
