On February 18, 2023, a Twitter user shared two photos of Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the party’s gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State.
In the first photo, the political colleagues are seen sitting with food, drinks, a duvet, and a blanket in front of them. For the second photo, they are sleeping on a couch while wrapped in two different blankets.
More than 930,000 people have seen the post, and it has been reposted on various social media platforms.
Adamu Garba, the deputy director of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) also shared the second image with the caption, “After a very disappointing rally and campaign, Peter Obi drank a whole crate of Hero beer and went to sleep in a public place.”
Verification
Using the advanced Twitter search, CDD War Room discovered that the first photo was selected from a series of pictures posted on February 17, 2023, by a member of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.
We also discovered that the second photo was uploaded on the same day, by a supporter of the Party, to demonstrate how the duo finds time to rest amid their hectic schedule.
Verdict
One of the images was manipulated to show some alcoholic drinks in front of the two Labour Party candidates. Obi and Rhodes-Vivour were not drinking alcoholic drinks in the image as claimed.
