Claim: INEC state commissioner wears Bola Tinubu’s cap
Verification:
The CDD War Room found that the individual purported to be the INEC state commissioner is Tony Okocha, the All Progressives Congress (APC) caretaker committee chairman in Rivers State.
We found that the image attached to the claim was retrieved from the media briefing held at the party secretariat on Aba Road, Port Harcourt on October 3, 2024. Tony Okocha, the caretaker committee chairman of the APC in Rivers State, alongside his committee members, granted the interview on the planned local government council elections scheduled for October 5, 2024.
They accused the governor, Siminalayi Fubara of disobeying the rule of law, insisting that the party will not watch the governor plunge the state into chaos and lawlessness. They added that the party is ready to participate in the election, however the atmosphere ahead of the election made them to withdraw participation in the polls.
Verdict: FALSE
The CDD War Room found that the individual wearing Bola Tinubu’s cap is Tony Okocha, the APC caretaker committee chairman in Rivers State and not INEC state commissioner.
