A Twitter user accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), of electoral malpractice.
According to the handle, the Obio Akpor LGA result uploaded by the electoral commission on the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) differed from that which was announced by the commission.
Verification
INEC on Tuesday, February 28, 2022, announced results from Rivers state. The announcement highlighted the result of Obio Akpor LGA of the state with the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathering 80,239 votes, while Labour Party (LP) got 3,829 votes.
To verify the claim, we scanned through the INEC Portal for the total number of votes gotten by the Labour Party as the tweet claimed.
We found that a good number of the uploaded results for the Obio Akpo LGA were not visible or properly uploaded.
There are more results from the LGA uploaded in this form, which cannot be calculated to get at a conclusion on what the actual IReV numbers are for Obio Akpor LGA.
As such, the CDD Election War Room cannot verify the total number of votes gotten by the Labour Party. No party, person or group, can do the same because the results are not legible for clear calculation.
Hence, no one can clearly sum up the total number of votes from the LGA.
Verdict
The claim is false and lacks evidence. Due to the poor uploads of some of the results by the electoral officers, it is currently impossible for anyone to add up the results on IReV from Obio Akpor LGA.
