Festus Keyamo and Femi Fani-Kayode, spokespersons of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, shared images, which they claimed were from APC rally in Sokoto.
CDD Election War Room checked, and found that one of the images shared was from a totally different event two years ago.
Keyamo, who serves as Nigeria’s minister of state for labor and employment, posted four images, which he claimed were from the APC rally in Sokoto on February 9, 2023.
He said the pictures were from the “mother of all rallies in Sokoto”. The post has since received over 700,000 views and interactions.
While some of the images in the photo slide were consistent with stills from the rally, this one, an aerial view of a location densely populated with people, was not.

The same image has been widely shared on other social media platforms and is said to have originated from the Sokoto rally.
The picture was also shared by Femi-Fani Kayode, the Tinubu Campaign Council’s director of new media, in his thread of images from the Sokoto rally.
Fani-Kayode shared the images as self-acclaimed evidence that his candidate “is winning” in the state, and across the northwest.
The image does not show Sokoto Rally
Checking the images using Google Lens, CDD War-Room discovered that the picture is a viral image first posted in 2021. It was captured by aerial photographer Colin Hinkle at the Lollapalooza Musical Festival in Chicago, United States.
The image was originally tweeted by the photographer Colin Hinkle (@hinklecolin) on July 31, 2021.
Verdict
The image making the rounds is not from the APC presidential rally in Sokoto.
