A 23-second video making the rounds on Twitter claims that Seyi Makinde, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Oyo state, was seen openly campaigning for Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress.
The video, which shows Makinde speaking inaudibly, also flashes images of Makinde and Tinubu having a discussion.
Verification
CDD Election War Room found that the video is a mash-up of short clips and pictures showing Seyi Makinde and Tinubu on different occasions.
Fact-Checkers at the Centre for Democracy and Development subjected the video to verification using video verification tool, InVid.
The verification revealed that the first clip used in the video in circulation is from a campaign video the Oyo state PDP candidate posted urging the people of the state to re-elect him in the upcoming election.
The original video showcases some of his track records with further reasons he should be re-elected as governor of the state.
Similarly, a picture attached at the end of the misleading video showing Makinde and Tinubu was photographed in January 2022, when both men met in Ibadan.
Verdict
CDD Election War Room can confirm that the video in circulation is made up, it does not show Makinde openly campaigning for Tinubu.
