Reports that thugs associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were arrested on the eve of the governorship elections went viral.

A statement by the Nigerian Police confirmed the incident. According to the police, 43-year-old Edwin Obanor, and 41-year-old Audu Tajudeen, a PDP member were arrested in the state. The police further explained that locally-made pistols and guns were discovered on them.
