FACT CHECK: Does this video show Senator Jimoh Ibrahim instructing thugs to kill?

On April 29, 2024, a video went viral across social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter) and Whatsapp.

Attached to the video is a caption “ Listen to Senator Jimoh Ibrahim in this video recorded after he lost the APC Gubernatorial Primary in Ondo State. He was dishing out instructions to his thugs in Yoruba. He said:  *”I have the list of all those who collected money from me. Those whose accounts I transferred money into. You should now go and be killing them one by one. Kill them, their children, and their wives”*  Now, here is a well-read holder of a PhD from Harvard. A reknown business mogul, a serving senator of this nation, and a supposed leader who was aspiring to become the governor of Ondo state. Just because he lost in the primary elections, see what he was doing.  This type of character has no business in government. It is obvious that he’s not going there to serve anybody but himself. He is desperate only to massage his ego and satisfy his greed with public resources. Such a despicable character should be kept away from public office.”
