FACT CHECK: Did EFCC officials storm Tinubu’s polling unit in Lagos?

Ahead of the presidential and senate elections, multiple posts on social media, as well as online media agencies, have claimed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials stormed Bola Tinubu’s polling unit.

Bola Tinubu is the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Party (APC), and his polling unit is ward C PU 085 Alausa, Ikeja, Alausa, Lagos State.

The posts claimed that on the morning of February 25, 2023, the EFCC visited the polling unit to check for possible vote buying.

Verification

The CDD Election War room has confirmed this news, tracing the video to the official Twitter page of the African Independent Television (AIT).

Punch newspapers have confirmed this news in a report made with pictorial evidence to show that the officials of EFCC did indeed visit Tinibu’s polling unit.

However, the news agency has stated that the officials did not disclose the reason for their visit. 

Verdict

CDD Election War Room confirmed that EFCC indeed visited polling units in Alausa, including Tinubu’s. It is, therefore, true that the officials were at the APC candidate’s polling unit.
