A video has circulated online with multiple claims that it shows Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi campaigning for Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is seeking a second four-year term as Lagos state governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Titilola is the sister of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos State.
Ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial election which has been rescheduled to March 18, Titilola’s footage went viral on Twitter and has since sparked mixed reactions from different quarters.
A Twitter user, Babafemi Oretuyi posted the footage with the caption, “A video of Titilola Vivour Adeniyi, Executive Secretary @Lagosdsva a family member of @GRVlagos supporting his (sic) boss, Lagos State Governor, Mr @jidesanwoolu.”
Another user, Abbey Odeyemi posted the same footage with the caption, “Please circulate, this is LP Candidate’s sister. She is Mrs Titilola Vivour Adeniyi, paying glowing tribute to Governor Sanwo-olu’s administration. She stands with Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu. She “follow person wey know road” CONTINUITY IS THE WORD, NO EXPERIMENT IN LAGOS.”
Another user with the handle @illskills_360 posted the video alongside the caption, “TITILOLA VIVOUR ADENIYI (CHINEDU GRV’s SISTER) SEEN CAMPAIGNING FOR SANWO-OLU.”
The Titilola’s footage was also reported here with the headline, Sister of Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour campaigns for Sanwo-Olu [Video]”
The video has also been shared across multiple groups on WhatsApp.
Claim: Video shows Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, sister to Gbadebo of LP, campaigning for Lagos state governor Sanwo-Olu of the APC.
Verification
The CDD Election War Room checked the veracity of the claim and here is what we found.
We traced the longer version of the footage to the Twitter page of Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant to governor Sanwo-Olu on New Media. Gawat posted the video on March 7, 2023.
In the video, Damilola Emmanuel, general manager of Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) and Titilola Vivour, executive secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), were seen speaking about their respective roles and the impacts made in the state under Sanwo Olu’s administration.
They further expressed their support for Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Part of Titilola’s words read, “Lagos state government has declared zero tolerance for all forms of sexual and gender based violence and this can only be achieved with your support. It’s for this reason that I stand with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu I’m ensuring that Lagos state is free..”
The final part of the video shows that it was powered by Heads of Lagos State Agencies and Parastatals.
When we contacted Titilola on the phone, she promised to get back to us, but did not as of the time of filing this report.
In 2014, Babatunde Fashola, the governor of the Lagos state at the time, set up the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, led by Titiola, under the ministry of justice.
She led the team throughout the tenure of Akinwunmi Ambode, and was appointed by Sanwo-Olu in September 2021, when the team was morphed into an agency of the government.
She has served in this position to date.
Verdict
Claim that video shows Titilola Vivour Adeniyi campaigning for Babajide Sanwo-Olu is true; checks by CDD Election War Room revealed that Titilola, sister to Gbadebo Rhodes, Labour Party’s guber candidate in Lagos, is supporting Sanwo-Olu of the APC. She has worked with at least three governors of Lagos state: Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo-Olu.
