A video has been widely circulated online, purportedly showing the moment Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke celebrated his victory in the 2026 Osun governorship election at his residence.
A verified X user identified as Mayor of Calabar shared the video at 1:06 a.m. on August 16, 2026, with the caption: “See the reaction of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s at his residence after he was told he has won by Imole Situation Room report. Omo no be Davido I de see so? Congratulations, Governor Ademola Adeleke! Congratulations, Imole! The victory is secured!”
The post had garnered 297,000 views as of the time it was retrieved.

VERIFICATION
A review of the video shows that it is not from the 2026 Osun governorship election. Rather, the footage shows Ademola Adeleke reacting to the declaration of his victory in the 2022 Osun governorship election, which he contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Adeleke is seeking re-election in the 2026 Osun governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party.
In addition, as of the time of filing this report, Adeleke had not been declared the winner of the August 15, 2026 election, as the collation of results was still ongoing at the Osun State collation centre in Osogbo, the state capital.
VERDICT: FALSE
We can confirm that the video does not show Adeleke reacting to his victory in the 2026 Osun governorship election. The footage is from the 2022 Osun governorship election, when Adeleke was declared the winner of that election.
