On September 21, 2024, an X user (formerly Twitter) tweeted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had won the Edo State election. 

In less than 24 hours, the tweet had garnered over 118k views

Claim: Has APC won Edo State governorship election?

Verification:

On September 21, 2024, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) held the Edo State governorship election. 

As at the time of the tweet and the time of this report, we can confirm that collation of results is still ongoing at the state collation center. 

We found that  as at the time of this report, 4,455 polling unit results — out of 4,519 — have been uploaded on the results viewing portal (IReV). Hence, the result collation has not yet been concluded and results not yet announced. 

Verdict: FALSE

The CDD War Room found that collation of results is still ongoing and the results have not yet been announced. Hence, APC has not won in Edo state.
