Claim: An X post by Legit NG alleges that a suspected vote buyer was arrested by Department of State Services (DSS) officials amid the ongoing 2024 Ondo gubernatorial election.

Verification

The CDD War Room investigated the claim and verified that Channels Television on X reported the incident at 9:49 a.m., shortly after the polls opened today, Saturday, November 16, 2024.

In a 3-minute clip shared by Channels TV, a man is seen being compelled to open the trunk of his Toyota Camry, bearing the number plate AAA-607GN. Inside, DSS officials discovered two  ‘Ghana must go’ bags allegedly filled with cash. DSS operatives subsequently took the suspect away in a white bus.

He was arrested at Ward 4, Polling Unit 007 outside St. Stephen’s Primary School, Akure, Ondo State, according to a report by Daily Post.

Verdict: TRUE
